GEORGIE’S
BEACH CLEANUP

The Long Island Sound is the ecological heart of our region. I want to keep the beaches clean and safe for the sea animals and our communities. Will you help me?

What is a Mitzvah?

A mitzvah is a good deed that helps make the world a better place. It’s the practice of transforming a good intention into a meaningful impact.

I couldn’t imagine life without the beach. Whether I’m at the ocean, lake, or river — the water is calming and reminds me that the world is vast and beautiful.

And so, I am dedicating my mitzvah project to the waters I love. My goal is to help clean and preserve our beaches for the whole community to enjoy.

One way I will fulfill this mitzvah is to spend afternoons this spring picking up trash at the Harbor Island beach in Mamaroneck.

Please feel free to join me!

Want to help me achieve my goal?

My goal is to raise awareness about the critical challenges facing Long Island Sound. Did you know that the oxygen levels in the water are the lowest in decades? Each year, billions of pounds of trash such as plastic bags and food packaging are being thrown into the ocean!

Together with me, you can learn more about the organizations that are helping to restore our beaches and keep the waters clean. It only takes a few minutes to do a little research about why we need to do this.

Additionally, I am collecting money to donate to the American Littoral Society. Any amount helps a lot.

The first 20 people who donate $25 or more will receive a hand-crocheted humpback whale — made by me!
